Boat maintenance software: logbook, engine hours and upkeep for your boat

A logbook that holds up in front of a surveyor, engine hours that trigger your oil changes, a maintenance record that follows the boat to resale. Smart Sailors gives a single boat the tools used by more than 700 professional vessels, from €10 a month.

Three things a paper notebook will never do for your boat

We built Smart Sailors with professional seafarers. For a boat owner, it comes down to three things.

Prove what happened

After damage, a dispute or an inspection, you will be asked for the logbook. A soaked, lost or scratched-out notebook proves nothing. In Smart Sailors every watch entry is time-stamped, immutable and exportable as a PDF in the paper-register format: your passage can be reconstructed in minutes, years later.

Never miss an oil change again

Engine hours logged during the watch become genuine maintenance readings. Oil change, belt, anodes or antifouling come due at the right threshold, with a reminder ahead of time, not “sometime in spring”.

Keep the boat's history

Every job, every part, every cost is traced. At resale, a complete, dated maintenance record is worth more than a verbal promise, and the buyer knows it.

A weekend's sailing, hour by hour

Saturday, 08:00. Before casting off, the skipper opens the app: crew, forecast checked, port of departure and destination go at the head of the log. Every hour, one line: position, course, speed, wind, a word on the sea state. At 14:00 the engine passes 412 hours; the app flags that the 400-hour oil change is due and creates the task.

Sunday evening, alongside, the phone finds a signal and syncs the weekend. The log page is signed, exported as a PDF and filed with the boat's history. The oil change is scheduled for the week, the oil ordered. The paper notebook stayed dry in the chart table: it was never needed.

Up and running before your next trip

No roll-out, no training: you create your account and you go sailing.

Minute 1: your account

An email address, a password. No credit card is asked for the 30-day trial.

Minute 5: your boat

Name, registration, engine and hour-meter reading. Your equipment and maintenance plan are set up in a few minutes after that.

Minute 10: your first log entry

The weekend trip is prepared from the sofa: crew, forecast, destination. The rest is entered on board, ten seconds per line.

Questions boat owners ask

Does the app work at sea, with no signal?

Yes, entirely. You enter the log, the counters and the jobs offline for the whole trip, and everything syncs when you are back in port. The time kept is the time of your entry, not the time of the sync.

How much does Smart Sailors cost for a pleasure boat?

The Plaisance plan is €10 excl. VAT per month for one boat. The full offer is published on the pricing page. The 30-day trial is free, with no credit card, and your data stays exportable at any time.

Is a digital logbook accepted in an inspection or a dispute?

Regulations prescribe content, not a medium. Smart Sailors entries are immutable, time-stamped three times and chained together; the PDF export follows the paper-register format. That is a solid body of technical evidence for an insurer or a surveyor, without being an administratively approved register.

I am not comfortable with apps.

The interface was designed by seafarers to be used one-handed, with gloves on, on a wet screen. A single “Nothing to report” button covers a quiet watch; a detailed line takes ten seconds.

What happens to my paper notebook and old readings?

You start on the date of your choice and, if you wish, enter past engine readings and jobs. Everything stays exportable as PDF and spreadsheet, at any time.
