Jean-Marc PIERI

The Marine Surveyor

A lifelong maritime professional, Jean-Marc trained as a Merchant Navy officer and holds both Master Mariner and Chief Engineer certificates. He spent more than ten years at sea aboard passenger ferries, ro-ro vessels and cruise ships, as well as specialised units such as supply vessels and salvage tugs. That technical grounding led him to serve as superintendent for a shipowner.

In 2009 he took over the marine survey practice EXPERTS ET CONSULTANTS. Specialising in hull and machinery survey work, he has handled major cases at national and international level, building deep expertise in the technical side of vessels.

One of Smart Sailors' first shareholders, Jean-Marc has backed the venture since 2017, bringing his expertise so we could build software perfectly matched to the needs he observes in the field.
